A little bit about myself:

Hi All! My name is Sasha and I am a passionate yoga student & teacher. As an east coast native, I grew up being active and partook in many sports, but always considered myself inflexible & immobile.

Growing up, I considered yoga a physical practice, and didn’t understand the deeper nature of the practice until 2014. My life changed in 2014 after being in a fatal car accident while attending an exchange program in Capetown, South Africa. My oldest brother, an avid yogi himself, introduced the practice to me knowing that I needed a way to move through the physical trauma that lived in the tissues of my body. Over time, through a continuous practice, I was able to see the deep transformative effects the practice had on my mind, my body, and my spirit. It is from this place that I have developed a deep respect and love for this ancient Indian tradition.

Outside of yoga, I love to hike, trail run, sketch, spend time with friends and family, be in nature, and enjoy all this beautiful life has to offer.

A little bit about my teaching:

A yoga mentor of mine once told me “the slow way is the fast way.” These words have always embodied my yoga practice & my yoga teaching. I was originally trained in a tantric yoga practice - a 2.5 hour sequenced series, holding postures for minutes at a time. We focused on connecting to our breath, and allowing our bodies to deeply relax. By focusing on these two things, we knew the rest would fall into place. I would always come out of this practice feeling born anew. It is this experience that taught me the powerful, healing effects yoga can have on human body & spirit if we just slow down and listen.

I now teach Yin Yoga - a deeply energetic practice where you hold postures from 3-5 minutes, and work with the connective tissues of the joints. By creating space in the joints, you are able to release stuck emotions, physical blockages, and create a clear pathway for energy (chi) to move more freely through the body. I love the slow practice of yin and incorporate aspects of the practice into all of my classes.

By practicing together, I hope to bring you to a place where you can attune to the powerful intelligence of your body, and intentionally connect with your inner knowing. It is from that space that the magic happens.

Thank you!

A heart felt thank you to the many teachers who have guided me on this journey. I specifically want to thank Renee Bruno who has been a tremendous mentor along my path, as well as Margi Young and Christy Brown. Christy, thank you for sharing the gift of Yin with me! I am forever grateful to you all.
